Project Title: “Move”
Project Description: Knowing that the obesity rate in American youth is a growing concern, BEAM’s project “Move” reaches out to young people in Milwaukee by offering a variety of health and wellness activities. The project will get young people to come together as a team and firstly, study and be introduced to different dance forms, creative movements and healthy eating sessions. In addition youth will come together for a unique dance performance.
Urban Ecology Center
Project Title: "Community Aquarium”
Project Description: With the purchase of a 561 gallon aquarium to replicate the aquatic ecosystems found in the state of Wisconsin, Urban Ecology’s Community Aquarium Project will be the centerpiece of their Animal Room and will serve as a way to bring our community together to help breakdown the barrier between man and nature. By building a healthy community of fish, they will help build a stronger and more united community in the city of Milwaukee. In addition programs will be developed around the aquarium to teach young people and adult visitors about aquatic life.
Sweet Water Foundation
Project Title: “The Hypha Project”
Project Description: Project Description: By building an aquiponic farm by performing exstensive research on the symbiotic process of fish and plants, Sweet Water’s “Hypha Project” will better the Milwaukee community by continuing the “Green Movement” that will purify the air and bring a healthier community. Students will learn a beneficial skills that will truly last them a lifetime and introduce them to new practices to strengthen ecconomically challenged areas.
